This year, we're super excited to bring RubyConf to the JW Marriott in Nashville, which will serve as our conference venue. A luxury hotel located among both Nashville's happening downtown attractions and the upscale Gulch neighborhood, the JW Marriott provides a comfortable, elegant backdrop for three full days of Ruby goodness!
However, both of our reserved hotel blocks in Nashville (at the JW Marriott and Tru at Hilton) are now fully booked. While we are not able to obtain any more blocks from downtown Nashville hotels, we believe there are still rooms available to be booked on an individual basis for our conference dates, and we would encourage you to book those as soon as possible, as we have observed rooms being booked at an incredibly fast clip. We have done a preliminary search here. You may want to use that as a starting point for booking individual reservations. The venue address is below to use for reference.
From Nashville International Airport (BNA), there are a few different ways to get downtown. From the airport's Ground Transportation Center, you can catch the #18 bus, meet up with your ride-share, or grab a taxi.
The #18 bus costs $2.00 for a one-way ticket downtown, and you can take either the Express (20 min ride that takes you to Music City Central at 4th/Charlotte, from which you can walk 0.8 miles or take a downtown bus to 8th/Demonbreun) or the Local (35-45 min ride that stops at 8th/Demonbreun, directly in front of the hotel).
Ride-shares and taxis will take 15-20 minutes to get downtown, and cost around $20-25.
Nashville boasts a fairly compact, walkable downtown, though it's a bit hillier than some other downtown areas. So while you can certainly walk to several nearby attractions, restaurants, and bars, there are also plenty of other transport options available to you, as you can see in this extensive list of ways to get around.
This includes your standard taxi & ride-share options, but also the free Music City Circuit bus that runs throughout downtown and the Gulch (the Green line stops a block away at 7th/Demonbreun), as well as the golf carts that you can catch a ride with for free (though you need to tip the driver!) on Broadway.
Nashville is a city that takes its eating, drinking, and music very seriously, and you'll find that downtown and its surrounding neighborhoods (our venue is closest to The Gulch) are chock full of places that we hope you'll love!
To help you out a bit, we're providing you with a comprehensive list of downtown attractions. In addition to those, we wanted to highlight a few additional places that may be of particular interest to RubyConf attendees.
